Medication Name: Jardiance 10mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredient:
Empagliflozin 10 mg

Pharmacological Class:
SGLT2 (Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2) inhibitor

Indication:

• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control in adults.

• Reduction of cardiovascular death risk in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.

• Treatment of chronic heart failure (both reduced and preserved ejection fraction).

Dosage:
One tablet once daily, usually taken in the morning with or without food.
Dose may be increased to 25 mg once daily if additional glycemic control is required and renal function is adequate.

Administration:

• Swallow whole with water.

• Ensure sufficient fluid intake to prevent dehydration.

Precautions:

• Evaluate kidney function before starting and monitor during treatment.

• Avoid in patients with severe renal impairment or those on dialysis.

• Caution in patients at risk of volume depletion, hypotension, or recurrent urinary/genital infections.

• Discontinue temporarily before major surgery or during acute illness.

Possible Side Effects:
Increased urination, urinary tract infections, genital yeast infections, thirst, dehydration, dizziness, hypotension, and rarely diabetic ketoacidosis.
