Exforge 10/160 mg (14 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Amlodipine 10 mg – Calcium channel blocker

• Valsartan 160 mg – Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)

Therapeutic Class:
Antihypertensive combination (Calcium channel blocker + ARB)

Indications:

• Treatment of essential hypertension in patients not adequately controlled by monotherapy

• May be used as a replacement therapy for patients already receiving the two components separately

Dosage:

• Usual dose: One tablet once daily

• May be taken with or without food

• Dose should be individualized based on blood pressure response and tolerance

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine: Relaxes vascular smooth muscle by inhibiting calcium ion influx, resulting in vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance.

• Valsartan: Blocks angiotensin II at the AT1 receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and reducing aldosterone secretion, leading to lowered blood pressure.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Pregnancy (especially 2nd and 3rd trimesters)

  • Severe hepatic or renal impairment

  • Known hypersensitivity to amlodipine, valsartan, or other dihydropyridine derivatives

• Use with caution in:

  • Patients with heart failure or left ventricular dysfunction

  • Severe aortic stenosis

  • Dehydration or electrolyte imbalance (especially low sodium or high potassium)

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness, headache, or fatigue

• Peripheral edema (swelling of ankles or legs)

• Flushing

• Hypotension

• Nausea or abdominal discomfort

• Muscle cramps (rare)

Storage:

• Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture

• Keep out of reach of children
