Active Ingredient:
Clindamycin phosphate 1% (equivalent to clindamycin 10 mg per gram)

Pharmacological Class:
Topical lincosamide antibiotic

Dosage Form:
Topical gel for external use

Indications:

• Treatment of acne vulgaris

• Reduces the number and severity of acne lesions

• Helps prevent new acne breakouts

Mechanism of Action:
Clindamycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, primarily Cutibacterium acnes (formerly Propionibacterium acnes), reducing inflammation and bacterial colonization in acne lesions.

Dosage and Administration:

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily after cleansing and drying the skin.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, mucous membranes, or broken skin.

• Wash hands after application.

• Use consistently for several weeks to achieve optimal results.

Side Effects:

• Local irritation (redness, dryness, itching, peeling)

• Burning or stinging sensation at the site of application

• Rare: diarrhea or colitis due to systemic absorption

Precautions:

• For external use only.

• Discontinue use if severe irritation or allergic reaction occurs.

• Avoid using concurrently with other topical acne treatments that may cause dryness or irritation.

• Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, especially colitis.

Storage:
Store below 25°C, away from direct light and heat.
Keep tightly closed when not in use.
