Medication Name: Cerazette 28 Tablets

Active Ingredient:

• Desogestrel 75 micrograms

Pharmacological Class:
Progestogen-only oral contraceptive (mini-pill)

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets — 28 tablets per pack (taken continuously without interruption)

Indications:

• Prevention of pregnancy (contraception), especially in women who cannot use estrogen-containing pills.

• Suitable for breastfeeding women and for those with estrogen-related contraindications.

Mechanism of Action:
Cerazette primarily works by inhibiting ovulation. It also thickens cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to enter the uterus, and alters the endometrium to reduce the likelihood of implantation.

Dosage and Administration:

• Take one tablet daily at the same time each day, without any breaks between packs.

• Each new pack should be started immediately after finishing the previous one.

• If a tablet is delayed by more than 12 hours, contraceptive protection may be reduced; additional protection (e.g., condoms) is recommended for 2 days.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in cases of active or past thromboembolic disease, liver tumors, severe liver disease, unexplained vaginal bleeding, or known/suspected breast cancer.

• If vomiting or severe diarrhea occurs within 3–4 hours after taking a pill, use additional contraceptive precautions.

• Regularly monitor for any abnormal bleeding patterns or breast changes.
