Medication Name: Omegapress 0.2 mg tablets (30 tablets)
Active Ingredient: Clonidine hydrochloride 0.2 mg
Drug Class: Central alpha-2 adrenergic agonist

Indications:

Omegapress is primarily used for:

1. Hypertension (high blood pressure) – helps lower blood pressure by decreasing sympathetic nervous system activity.

2. Certain off-label uses may include:

   • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

   • Anxiety or sleep disorders (under strict medical supervision)

Mechanism of Action:

• Clonidine stimulates alpha-2 receptors in the brain, reducing sympathetic nerve activity.

• This leads to:

  • Lower heart rate

  • Relaxation of blood vessels

  • Overall reduction in blood pressure

Dosage and Administration:

• Typical dose for hypertension: 0.1–0.2 mg twice daily (morning and evening), depending on response.

• Dose may be adjusted gradually to reduce the risk of sudden drop in blood pressure.

• Tablets can be taken with or without food.

• Do not stop suddenly; abrupt discontinuation may cause rebound hypertension.

Side Effects:

• Dry mouth

• Drowsiness or sedation

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Constipation

• Fatigue

• Rare: slow heart rate (bradycardia), low blood pressure (hypotension)

Warnings and Precautions:

• Do not stop suddenly; taper gradually under medical supervision.

• Use caution in patients with:

  • Heart disease or bradycardia

  • Severe kidney or liver disease

  • Depression

• May enhance sedative effects of alcohol or other CNS depressants.

• Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly.
