Bisocard Plus 5/12.5 mg (30 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Bisoprolol 5 mg (Beta‑blocker, cardioselective)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg (Thiazide diuretic)

Therapeutic Class:
Combination antihypertensive – Beta-blocker + Thiazide diuretic

Indications:

• Essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults, especially when monotherapy with either agent is insufficient.

• May be used in patients requiring both heart rate control and fluid balance management.

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily, preferably in the morning.

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Dose adjustments may be required based on blood pressure, heart rate, and clinical response.

Mechanism of Action:

• Bisoprolol: Selectively blocks beta‑1 receptors, reducing heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure.

• Hydrochlorothiazide: Increases excretion of sodium and water, reducing blood volume and contributing to blood pressure reduction.

• Combination provides synergistic blood pressure control through complementary mechanisms.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Severe bradycardia or heart block

  • Cardiogenic shock or decompensated heart failure

  • Severe hypotension

  • Hypersensitivity to either component

• Use with caution in:

  • Asthma or COPD

  • Diabetes (beta-blocker may mask hypoglycemia)

  • Electrolyte imbalances (potassium, sodium)

  • Kidney or liver impairment

• Monitor blood pressure, heart rate, kidney function, and electrolytes regularly.

• Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided; taper gradually.

Possible Side Effects:

• Fatigue, dizziness, or lightheadedness

• Slow heart rate (bradycardia)

• Low blood pressure (hypotension)

• Electrolyte disturbances (low potassium or sodium)

• Cold extremities

• Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhea)

• Rare: shortness of breath, depression, or sleep disturbances
