Medication Name: Torseretic 10mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients (per tablet):

• Torsemide 10 mg

• Amiloride hydrochloride (exact amount may vary by formulation)

Pharmacological Class:
Combination diuretic (loop diuretic + potassium-sparing diuretic)

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets

Indications:

• Treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, renal, or hepatic disease

• Management of hypertension in patients requiring diuretic therapy

Mechanism of Action:

• Torsemide: Inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the loop of Henle, promoting diuresis.

• Amiloride: Reduces potassium loss by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal tubule, conserving potassium.

Dosage and Administration:

• Usual adult dose: 1 tablet daily in the morning

• May be adjusted based on response and clinical condition

• Take with or without food; preferably in the morning to avoid nocturnal urination

Side Effects:

• Dizziness, headache

• Increased urination

• Electrolyte imbalance (especially low sodium or magnesium)

• Rare: muscle cramps, dehydration, hypotension

Precautions:

• Monitor electrolytes regularly (especially potassium and sodium)

• Use cautiously in patients with kidney or liver disease

• Avoid potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless prescribed

• Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, hyperkalemia, or known hypersensitivity to sulfonamides
