Active Ingredient:
Empagliflozin 25 mg

Pharmacological Class:
SGLT2 (Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2) inhibitor

Indication:

• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control in adults.

• Reduction of cardiovascular death risk in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease.

• Treatment of heart failure with reduced or preserved ejection fraction.

Dosage:
One tablet once daily, usually taken in the morning with or without food.

Administration:

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.

• Maintain adequate hydration during therapy.

Precautions:

• Assess renal function before starting and monitor periodically.

• Avoid in patients with severe renal impairment or undergoing dialysis.

• Use cautiously in elderly patients or those at risk of dehydration, hypotension, or urinary/genital infections.

• Temporarily discontinue during acute illness, surgery, or reduced oral intake.

Possible Side Effects:
Increased urination, genital fungal infections, urinary tract infections, dehydration, thirst, dizziness, hypotension, and rarely diabetic ketoacidosis.
