Medication Name: Janumet 50/1000 mg 56 Tablets

Active Ingredients:
Sitagliptin 50 mg
Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor + Biguanide combination

Indication:
Used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, as an adjunct to diet and exercise, particularly when monotherapy with sitagliptin or metformin is insufficient.

Dosage:
Usually, one tablet taken twice daily with meals.
The dosage should be individualized based on current therapy, effectiveness, and tolerability.

Administration:

• For oral use only.

• Take with food to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.

• Swallow tablet whole with water; do not crush or split.

Precautions:

• Assess renal function before initiation and regularly thereafter.

• Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment or metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis).

• Use cautiously in hepatic impairment or heart failure.

• Discontinue before iodinated contrast imaging procedures.

Possible Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia (especially with other antidiabetic agents), nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, fatigue, and in rare cases, lactic acidosis or pancreatitis.
