Examide 20 mg (20 Tablets)

Active Ingredient:

• Torasemide 20 mg – Loop diuretic

Therapeutic Class:
Diuretic (loop type) – Antihypertensive and anti-edema agent

Indications:

• Treatment of edema associated with:

  • Congestive heart failure

  • Liver cirrhosis

  • Kidney disease (including chronic renal failure)

• Management of hypertension, alone or in combination with other antihypertensives

Dosage:

• For edema: Usually 5–20 mg once daily; may be increased gradually according to response.

• For hypertension: Typically 5 mg once daily; dose may be adjusted by the physician.

• Should be taken in the morning, with or without food.

Mechanism of Action:

• Torasemide inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the loop of Henle, leading to increased urine output.

• This reduces fluid overload and lowers blood pressure by decreasing circulating volume.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Hypersensitivity to torasemide or sulfonamides

  • Anuria (no urine output)

• Use with caution in:

  • Kidney or liver impairment

  • Gout or diabetes mellitus

  • Electrolyte imbalance (especially low potassium or sodium)

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness (due to low blood pressure)

• Increased urination

• Dehydration or electrolyte imbalance (low potassium, sodium, or magnesium)

• Muscle cramps or weakness

• Nausea or headache

• Rare: Elevated uric acid or blood glucose levels

Storage:

• Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from moisture and sunlight

• Keep out of reach of children
