Zestril 5 mg (10 Tablets)

Active Ingredient:

• Lisinopril 5 mg (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor – ACE inhibitor)

Therapeutic Class:
Antihypertensive and heart failure medication

Indications:

• Treatment of mild to moderate hypertension

• Management of heart failure, often in combination with other medications such as diuretics or beta-blockers

• Post–myocardial infarction therapy to improve survival and prevent heart failure

• Protection of kidney function in diabetic patients (diabetic nephropathy)

Dosage:

• Hypertension: Usual starting dose is 5–10 mg once daily; adjusted as needed up to 40 mg per day.

• Heart failure: Start with 2.5–5 mg once daily; titrate gradually according to clinical response (maximum usually 20–40 mg daily).

• After myocardial infarction: Initial dose 5 mg within 24 hours, followed by 5–10 mg once daily.

• May be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Precautions:

• Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

• Contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema or known hypersensitivity to ACE inhibitors.

• Caution in patients with renal impairment, dehydration, or low blood pressure.

• Regular monitoring of kidney function and serum potassium is recommended.

• Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics unless prescribed.

• May cause dizziness, especially after the first dose—stand up slowly and avoid driving if affected.

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Persistent dry cough

• Headache

• Fatigue or weakness

• Hypotension (low blood pressure)

• Elevated potassium levels

• Rare: angioedema, rash, taste disturbances, or kidney dysfunction

Storage:
Store below 25°C, in a dry place, away from heat, light, and moisture.
