Medication Name: Vagiclind 2% Vaginal Cream 40 gm

Active Ingredient:
Clindamycin phosphate 2% (equivalent to clindamycin 20 mg per gram)

Pharmacological Class:
Lincosamide antibiotic (for intravaginal use)

Dosage Form:
Vaginal cream with applicator

Indications:

• Bacterial vaginosis caused by Gardnerella vaginalis, Mobiluncus species, and other anaerobic bacteria

• Nonspecific bacterial vaginal infections responsive to clindamycin

Mechanism of Action:
Clindamycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, effectively suppressing bacterial growth and restoring normal vaginal flora.

Dosage and Administration:

• Apply one full applicator (approximately 5 g of cream, equivalent to 100 mg clindamycin) intravaginally once daily at bedtime for 3 to 7 consecutive days.

• The applicator should be inserted gently into the vagina while lying on the back with knees bent.

• Dispose of the applicator after each use if single-use type, or wash thoroughly if reusable.

Side Effects:

• Vaginal irritation, itching, or burning

• Mild abdominal pain or cramping

• Possible increase in vaginal discharge

• Rarely, antibiotic-associated colitis or diarrhea

Precautions:

• For vaginal use only, not for oral or topical skin application.

• Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment.

• Avoid use during menstruation.

• Discontinue if severe irritation or diarrhea occurs.

• Caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders or antibiotic-associated colitis.

• Consult a doctor if symptoms persist beyond the treatment period.
