Composition

• Active Ingredient: Tacrolimus 0.03% (as ointment)

Indications

• Treatment of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in patients where conventional therapies are inadequate or not tolerated

• Used on sensitive areas like the face, neck, and skin folds

Mechanism of Action

• Calcineurin inhibitor: suppresses immune response in the skin

• Reduces inflammation, redness, and itching associated with eczema

Dosage & Administration

• Route: Topical

• Apply a thin layer to affected areas twice daily

• Wash hands after application

• Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to tacrolimus or any ointment component

• Active skin infections at the application site

Precautions

• Avoid sun exposure on treated areas or use sunscreen

• Not recommended for children under 2 years (0.03% is generally for 2–15 years; 0.1% for adults)

• Long-term safety beyond 1 year not fully established

Side Effects

• Mild burning, itching, or redness at application site

• Rare: skin infections or flu-like symptoms
