Sarcozide 16/12.5 mg (20 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Candesartan cilexetil 16 mg (Angiotensin II receptor blocker – ARB)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg (Thiazide diuretic)

Therapeutic Class:
Antihypertensive combination (ARB + Thiazide diuretic)

Indications:

• Treatment of essential hypertension in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by candesartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone.

• Helps reduce blood pressure by:

  1. Relaxing and widening blood vessels (Candesartan).

  2. Promoting mild diuresis and reducing fluid retention (Hydrochlorothiazide).

Dosage:

• Usual dose: one tablet once daily.

• May be taken with or without food.

• Best taken in the morning to minimize nighttime urination.

• Dose adjustment should be made based on blood pressure response and tolerance.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated during pregnancy and in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment, anuria, or hypersensitivity to sulfonamides.

• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, electrolyte imbalances, or dehydration.

• Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and serum electrolytes (especially potassium, sodium, and creatinine).

• Avoid use with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics unless prescribed.

• Increased sensitivity to sunlight may occur; skin protection is advised.

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Headache or fatigue

• Hypotension (low blood pressure)

• Increased urination

• Electrolyte disturbances (low sodium, low potassium, or low magnesium)

• Rare: gout flare-up, rash, or kidney function changes
