Medication Name: Mellitofix 25mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredient:
Empagliflozin 25 mg

Pharmacological Class:
SGLT2 (Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2) inhibitor

Indication:
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control, as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic medications.
Also indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, and to treat chronic heart failure.

Dosage:
One tablet once daily, taken in the morning with or without food.
Dose may be adjusted based on renal function and therapeutic response.

Administration:

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.

• Maintain adequate fluid intake during treatment.

Precautions:

• Assess renal function before initiation and periodically during treatment.

• Contraindicated in severe renal impairment or dialysis patients.

• Use caution in patients prone to hypotension, dehydration, or urinary tract infections.

• Temporary discontinuation may be required before surgery or in case of serious illness.

Possible Side Effects:
Increased urination, genital yeast infections, urinary tract infections, thirst, dehydration, and rarely diabetic ketoacidosis or hypotension.
