Composition

• Erythromycin (macrolide antibiotic)

• Isotretinoin (vitamin A derivative for acne control)

Indications

• Mild to moderate acne vulgaris

• Inflammatory acne with papules and pustules

• Helps reduce bacterial load and unclog pores

Mechanism of Action

• Erythromycin: Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and decreases Propionibacterium acnes count

• Isotretinoin: Reduces sebum production, normalizes keratinization, and prevents new comedones

Dosage & Administration

• Route: Topical

• Apply a thin layer to affected areas once or twice daily

• Clean and dry skin before application

• Avoid use on broken, eczematous, or sunburned skin

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to erythromycin, isotretinoin, or macrolide antibiotics

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding (due to isotretinoin content)

Precautions

• Avoid direct sunlight; use sunscreen

• Avoid combination with other topical irritants unless advised

• May cause dryness; use a non-comedogenic moisturizer if needed
