Medication Name: Insulinagypt 70/30 100 IU/ml 10 ml Vial

Active Ingredients:

• Human Insulin Isophane (NPH) 70% (intermediate-acting)

• Human Insulin Regular 30% (short-acting)

Pharmacological Class:
Biphasic (premixed) human insulin preparation

Indications:
Used to improve glycemic control in adults and children with diabetes mellitus (type 1 or type 2) requiring insulin for blood glucose management.

Dosage Form:
Injection vial containing 10 ml of suspension (100 IU of insulin per ml).

Administration:

• Administer subcutaneously, usually 1–2 times daily before meals.

• Inject in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.

• Rotate injection sites to prevent lipodystrophy.

• Dosage and timing should be individualized based on blood glucose monitoring and physician’s recommendation.

• Do not inject intravenously or intramuscularly.

• Gently roll the vial between hands before use to resuspend the insulin uniformly (do not shake vigorously).

Mechanism of Action:
Provides both:

• Rapid onset (from Regular insulin): Helps control blood sugar spikes after meals.

• Prolonged duration (from NPH insulin): Maintains basal glucose control between meals and overnight.

Onset, Peak, and Duration:

• Onset: 30–60 minutes

• Peak: 2–8 hours

• Duration: up to 24 hours

Common Side Effects:

• Hypoglycemia (most common)

• Injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling)

• Weight gain

• Mild edema

• Rarely: allergic reactions or lipodystrophy

Precautions:

• Monitor blood glucose regularly.

• Adjust dose in case of stress, illness, or changes in diet or physical activity.

• Avoid skipping meals after injection.

• Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment.

Storage:

• Store unopened vials in a refrigerator (2–8°C).

• Once in use, store below 30°C for up to 4 weeks.

• Protect from direct light and heat. Do not freeze.
