Active Ingredient:

• Nifedipine 10 mg – Calcium channel blocker

Therapeutic Class:
Antihypertensive and antianginal agent

Indications:

• Essential hypertension (mild to moderate)

• Chronic stable angina pectoris

• Vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s) angina

Dosage and Administration:

• Typical dose: 1 capsule (10 mg) three times daily, or as prescribed by the physician.

• Capsules should be swallowed whole with water, preferably after meals.

• Do not chew or open the capsule.

• Dosage may be adjusted gradually based on the patient’s response and blood pressure control.

Mechanism of Action:

• Nifedipine inhibits calcium ion influx through L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle and myocardium.

• Promotes vasodilation of coronary and peripheral arteries.

• Reduces afterload, blood pressure, and myocardial oxygen demand.

• Enhances oxygen delivery to cardiac tissue by improving coronary blood flow.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Severe hypotension

  • Cardiogenic shock

  • Acute myocardial infarction (use only under supervision)

• Use with caution in:

  • Heart failure, aortic stenosis, or liver impairment

• Avoid grapefruit juice and abrupt discontinuation.

• Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly during treatment.

Possible Side Effects:

• Headache, flushing, dizziness

• Peripheral edema (ankle swelling)

• Palpitations or tachycardia

• Nausea, fatigue, or constipation

• Rare: Gingival hyperplasia with prolonged use

Storage:

• Store below 25°C, in a cool dry place away from light and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children.
