Medication Name: Empacoza Plus 25/5 mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients:

1. Empagliflozin 25 mg

2. Linagliptin 5 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Oral antidiabetic combination (SGLT2 inhibitor + DPP-4 inhibitor)

Indications:
For the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control when diet, exercise, and/or monotherapy with either component alone is inadequate.

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets

Administration:

• Taken orally once daily, with or without food.

• Swallow whole with water; do not split, crush, or chew.

Mechanism of Action:

• Empagliflozin: Lowers blood glucose by inhibiting sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) in the kidneys, promoting urinary glucose excretion.

• Linagliptin: Inhibits dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), increasing incretin hormones, which enhance insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release.

Common Side Effects:

• Increased urination

• Urinary tract infection or genital yeast infection

• Headache

• Nasopharyngitis

• Hypoglycemia (especially when used with sulfonylureas or insulin)

Precautions:

• Not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease.

• Monitor renal function and blood glucose regularly.

• Ensure adequate hydration to prevent dehydration.

• Use with caution in elderly patients or those at risk of volume depletion.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.
