Active Ingredient:

• Drospirenone 4 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Progestogen-only oral contraceptive (mini-pill)

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets — 28 tablets per pack (taken continuously without interruption)

Indications:

• Prevention of pregnancy (contraception)

• Suitable for women who cannot use estrogen-containing contraceptives

Mechanism of Action:
Drospinetta prevents pregnancy mainly by inhibiting ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm penetration, and altering the endometrium to make it less receptive for implantation.

Dosage and Administration:

• Take one tablet daily at the same time each day, without interruption between packs.

• Each new pack should start immediately after the previous pack is finished.

• If a tablet is missed by more than 24 hours, contraceptive protection may be reduced; use an additional contraceptive method (e.g., condoms) for 7 days.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in cases of renal or hepatic impairment, adrenal insufficiency, history of thromboembolism, or known/suspected hormone-dependent malignancy.

• Monitor potassium levels, especially if taking medications that increase serum potassium (e.g., ACE inhibitors, ARBs, potassium-sparing diuretics).

• Not recommended during pregnancy; can be used during breastfeeding if clinically indicated.
