Active Ingredient:

• Esomeprazole 40 mg per sachet

Indications:

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

• Erosive esophagitis

• Peptic ulcer disease

• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

• Prevention of gastric ulcers caused by NSAIDs

Mechanism of Action:

• Esomeprazole inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells.

• This reduces gastric acid secretion, allowing healing of ulcers and erosive lesions and providing relief from acid-related symptoms.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: 1 sachet daily, preferably taken in the morning before meals.

• Dissolve the contents of the sachet in half a glass of water before administration.

• Treatment duration depends on the condition being treated and medical advice.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or other PPIs

• Severe liver impairment (use with caution)

Precautions:

• Long-term use may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency or low magnesium levels.

• Use caution in patients with osteoporosis or history of fractures.

• Report persistent diarrhea, as it may indicate Clostridium difficile infection.

Common Adverse Effects:

• Headache

• Nausea, vomiting

• Abdominal pain or bloating

• Diarrhea or constipation

• Rare: rash, dizziness
