Medication Name: Clavimox 228.5mg Suspension

Active Ingredients:

• Amoxicillin 200 mg

• Clavulanic acid 28.5 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic (β-lactam) combined with a β-lactamase inhibitor

Indications:
Used for bacterial infections caused by β-lactamase–producing organisms, including:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Dental and bone infections

Mechanism of Action:

• Amoxicillin: inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis.

• Clavulanic acid: inhibits β-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, restoring amoxicillin’s activity.

Dosage (based on amoxicillin content):

• Children: 25–45 mg/kg/day divided every 12 hours, depending on infection severity.

• Shake well before use and administer with food to reduce stomach upset.

• Use the provided dosing syringe or spoon for accurate measurement.

Precautions:

• Adjust dose in renal impairment.

• Not for use in patients with a history of amoxicillin or clavulanate allergy.

• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve early.

Possible Side Effects:

• Diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting

• Skin rash or itching

• Mild abdominal discomfort

• Rare: allergic reaction or jaundice (in case of hepatic involvement)
