Alkapress Trio 5/160/12.5 mg (14 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Amlodipine 5 mg (Calcium channel blocker)

• Valsartan 160 mg (Angiotensin II receptor blocker, ARB)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg (Thiazide diuretic)

Therapeutic Class:
Triple combination antihypertensive – Calcium channel blocker + ARB + Diuretic

Indications:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults not adequately controlled with dual therapy

• Helps improve blood pressure control and reduce cardiovascular risk

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily, preferably in the morning

• Can be taken with or without food

• Dose adjustments may be required based on blood pressure response and kidney function

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine: Relaxes vascular smooth muscle, causing vasodilation and reduced vascular resistance

• Valsartan: Blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and sodium retention

• Hydrochlorothiazide: Increases excretion of sodium and water, reducing blood volume and blood pressure

• The combination provides a comprehensive antihypertensive effect through multiple mechanisms

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • Severe liver or kidney impairment

  • Hypersensitivity to any component

• Use with caution in:

  • Electrolyte imbalances (especially potassium or sodium)

  • Dehydration or volume depletion

  • Severe heart failure

• Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes regularly

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Fatigue or headache

• Peripheral edema (swelling of feet or ankles)

• Hypotension

• Electrolyte disturbances (especially low sodium or potassium)

• Rare: kidney impairment, allergic reactions
