Composition

Each gram of cream contains Acyclovir 5% w/w as the active ingredient.

Indications

• Treatment of Herpes Simplex virus infections of the skin and mucous membranes, including:

  • Cold sores (Herpes labialis)

  • Genital herpes

• May also be used for recurrent infections to shorten healing time and reduce discomfort.

Mechanism of Action

Acyclovir inhibits viral DNA synthesis, preventing replication of the Herpes Simplex virus in infected cells.

Dosage & Administration

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area five times daily (approximately every 4 hours, omitting overnight application).

• Begin treatment as soon as symptoms appear (e.g., tingling or burning).

• Continue for 5 to 10 days or until lesions heal.

• For external use only.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Acyclovir or any component of the cream.

Precautions

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or inside of the vagina.

• Wash hands before and after use to prevent spreading infection.

• Not a cure; does not prevent virus transmission.

Possible Side Effects

• Mild burning, stinging, or dryness at the application site.

• Rarely: redness, itching, or allergic skin reactions.

Storage

• Store below 25°C in a dry place.

• Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.
