Avivavasc 5/160 mg (28 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Amlodipine 5 mg – Calcium channel blocker

• Valsartan 160 mg – Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)

Therapeutic Class:
Combination antihypertensive (Calcium channel blocker + ARB)

Indications:

• Essential hypertension (to lower high blood pressure)

• Used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or valsartan alone

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily

• May be taken with or without food

• Should be taken at the same time each day for consistent effect

• Dose adjustment should be based on blood pressure response under medical supervision

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine relaxes vascular smooth muscle, causing vasodilation and lowering blood pressure.

• Valsartan blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and reducing fluid retention.

• Combined effect leads to stronger and sustained blood pressure reduction.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Pregnancy (especially 2nd and 3rd trimesters)

  • Severe liver impairment

  • Hypersensitivity to amlodipine, valsartan, or any component of the formulation

• Use with caution in:

  • Kidney disease or heart failure

  • Dehydrated or salt-depleted patients

  • Elderly patients (monitor for dizziness or hypotension)

• Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes is recommended.

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Fatigue

• Peripheral edema (ankle or leg swelling)

• Headache

• Flushing

• Rare: Low blood pressure, increased potassium, or renal function changes
