Medication Name: Tresiba FlexTouch 100 IU/ml

Active Ingredient:
Insulin Degludec 100 IU/ml

Pharmacological Class:
Ultra-long-acting insulin analog

Indication:
Used in adults, adolescents, and children (≥1 year) with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus to provide basal insulin coverage and improve glycemic control.

Dosage:

• The dose is individualized based on blood glucose monitoring, diet, and activity.

• Typically administered once daily at the same time each day. Dose adjustments may be needed when switching from other basal insulins.

Administration:

• Subcutaneous injection using the prefilled FlexTouch pen.

• Can be injected in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm; rotate injection sites to avoid lipodystrophy.

• Do not mix with other insulins or administer intravenously.

Precautions:

• Regular blood glucose monitoring is required to avoid hypo- or hyperglycemia.

• Adjust dose during illness, stress, or changes in lifestyle.

• Use caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.

• Store unused pens in the refrigerator; in-use pens can be kept at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 56 days.

Possible Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia, local injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling), lipodystrophy, weight gain, edema, and rarely allergic reactions.
