Medication Name: Mellitofix Met 500/5mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients:

• Empagliflozin 5 mg

• Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Combination of SGLT2 inhibitor and biguanide antidiabetic agent

Indication:
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when treatment with both empagliflozin and metformin is appropriate, as an adjunct to diet and exercise.

Dosage:
One tablet once or twice daily, as prescribed by the physician.
Dose adjustments may be required depending on glycemic response and renal function.

Administration:

• Take orally with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects caused by metformin.

• Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Precautions:

• Assess renal function before and during treatment.

• Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, metabolic acidosis, or diabetic ketoacidosis.

• Ensure adequate hydration; avoid dehydration.

• Use caution in patients with hepatic impairment or heart failure.

• Discontinue before major surgery or use of iodinated contrast materials.

Possible Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia (especially when used with insulin or sulfonylureas), urinary tract infections, genital fungal infections, increased urination, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort.
