Zestoretic 20/12.5 mg (10 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Lisinopril 20 mg (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor – ACE inhibitor)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg (Thiazide diuretic)

Therapeutic Class:
Antihypertensive combination (ACE inhibitor + Thiazide diuretic)

Indications:

• Management of essential hypertension in adults when monotherapy with lisinopril or hydrochlorothiazide alone is insufficient.

• Helps lower blood pressure by:

  1. Relaxing and widening blood vessels (Lisinopril).

  2. Promoting diuresis and reducing excess fluid retention (Hydrochlorothiazide).

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: one tablet once daily.

• Preferably taken in the morning to minimize nighttime urination.

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Dose should be individualized based on blood pressure response and clinical condition.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated during pregnancy and in patients with a history of angioedema, severe renal impairment, or anuria.

• Use cautiously in patients with kidney disease, dehydration, or electrolyte imbalances.

• Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and serum electrolytes (especially potassium and sodium) regularly.

• Avoid concurrent use with potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, or lithium unless prescribed.

• May increase sensitivity to sunlight—use sun protection as needed.

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Persistent dry cough (common with ACE inhibitors)

• Fatigue or weakness

• Increased urination

• Low blood pressure (hypotension)

• Electrolyte disturbances (low sodium or potassium)

• Rare: rash, angioedema (swelling of face, lips, or throat)
