Composition

Each vaginal suppository contains:

• Itraconazole 80 mg

Indications

Used for the treatment of:

• Vaginal yeast infections (Candida species)

Mechanism of Action

Itraconazole inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes, preventing ergosterol synthesis, which is essential for fungal cell membrane integrity, leading to cell death.

Dosage & Administration

• Adult women: One suppository inserted vaginally once daily at bedtime for the prescribed duration.

• Usually, a 3-day course is recommended.

• Wash hands before and after insertion.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to itraconazole or other azoles

• Pregnancy (unless clearly needed)

• Severe liver disease

Precautions

• Avoid concomitant use with drugs that prolong QT interval or are hepatotoxic.

• Monitor for signs of liver dysfunction (jaundice, dark urine).

• Not for use in children.
