Active Ingredient:
Insulin Glargine (long-acting insulin analogue)

Pharmacological Class:
Long-acting basal insulin

Indication:
Used to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus (type 1 or type 2). Provides steady, long-lasting blood sugar control over 24 hours or longer.

Dosage:

• Dose must be individualized based on patient’s blood glucose monitoring, metabolic needs, and clinical response.

• Typically injected once daily at the same time each day.

Administration:

• Subcutaneous injection only (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm).

• Do not inject intravenously or mix with other insulins.

• Use a new needle for each injection.

• Rotate injection sites to reduce the risk of lipodystrophy.

Precautions:

• Monitor blood glucose regularly.

• Dose adjustments may be required during illness, stress, or changes in diet/exercise.

• Use cautiously in renal or hepatic impairment.

• Avoid skipping meals after injection to prevent hypoglycemia.

Possible Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia, injection site reactions (redness, swelling, or itching), weight gain, lipodystrophy, and allergic reactions. Rarely, edema or visual disturbances may occur.
