Norvasc 10mg 15 Tablets

Indications:

• Treatment of essential hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by either amlodipine or valsartan alone.

• May also be used as replacement therapy for patients already stabilized on the same doses of the individual components.

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine: A dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that relaxes vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure.

• Valsartan: An angiotensin II receptor antagonist that blocks vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, decreasing vascular resistance and blood pressure.

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily, taken at the same time each day.

• May be taken with or without food.

• Dose adjustments depend on clinical response and tolerability.

Precautions:

• Avoid in severe hepatic or renal impairment.

• Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and serum potassium regularly.

• Use cautiously in patients with volume depletion or heart failure.

• Contraindicated during pregnancy.

Common Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Peripheral edema (ankle swelling)

• Headache

• Fatigue

• Flushing

• Hypotension

• Rarely, hyperkalemia or renal function impairment
