Medication Name: Mounjaro 5mg/0.6ml 1 KwikPen
Active Ingredient: Tirzepatide 5 mg per 0.6 ml injection

Pharmacological Class: Dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist (antidiabetic/weight management agent)

Indications:

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus (as adjunct to diet and exercise)

• Sometimes prescribed off-label for weight reduction in adults with obesity or overweight with comorbidities

Dosage Form: Prefilled pen (subcutaneous injection)

Typical Dose:

• Start with 2.5 mg once weekly for 4 weeks (for tolerability)

• Then increase to 5 mg once weekly

• May further increase in 2.5 mg increments after at least 4 weeks at each dose, up to a maximum of 15 mg once weekly, depending on response and tolerance

Route of Administration: Subcutaneous (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm)

Contraindications:

• Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)

• Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2)

• Hypersensitivity to tirzepatide or any component of the formulation

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation

• Decreased appetite

• Abdominal discomfort or bloating

• Fatigue or dizziness

Serious Side Effects (seek medical attention):

• Signs of pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain radiating to the back)

• Signs of gallbladder disease

• Persistent vomiting or dehydration

• Allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

Storage:

• Store in refrigerator (2°C to 8°C)

• Can be kept at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 21 days if needed

• Do not freeze or expose to direct heat

Administer once weekly on the same day each week, with or without food. Rotate injection sites to reduce irritation.
