Medication Name: Metformin Eva 1000 XR 30 Tablets
Active Ingredient:
Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg (Extended Release)
Pharmacological Class:
Biguanide antidiabetic agent
Indication:
Used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially in overweight patients, to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient. It may also be used in combination with other antidiabetic medications, including insulin.
Dosage:
The usual starting dose is 500 mg or 1000 mg once daily with the evening meal. The dose may be increased gradually depending on blood glucose response, up to a maximum of 2000 mg once daily. Always follow the physician’s instructions.
Administration:

Take orally with or after meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.

Swallow tablets whole; do not crush or chew.

Take at the same time each day for best effect.
Precautions:

Not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m²).

Avoid excessive alcohol intake due to the risk of lactic acidosis.

Temporarily discontinue before major surgery or radiologic studies involving iodinated contrast.

Regularly monitor kidney function and blood glucose levels.
Possible Side Effects:
Gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain), metallic taste, loss of appetite, and in rare cases, lactic acidosis.
