Medication Name: Megamox 228mg Suspension 70ml

Active Ingredients (per 5 ml):

• Amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 200 mg

• Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) 28.5 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Broad-spectrum antibiotic (penicillin group, β-lactamase inhibitor combination)

Dosage Form:
Oral suspension — for pediatric use

Indications:

• Respiratory tract infections (otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Bone and joint infections

• Dental infections

Mechanism of Action:
Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid blocks β-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, enhancing the activity of amoxicillin.

Dosage and Administration:

• Children (based on amoxicillin): 20–45 mg/kg/day divided every 12 hours.

• Shake well before each dose.

• Give at the start of a meal to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset.

• Reconstitute the dry powder with boiled and cooled water up to the marked line, then shake thoroughly.

Side Effects:

• Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting

• Skin rash, urticaria

• Rare: liver enzyme elevation, allergic reaction

Precautions:

• Avoid in patients with penicillin or β-lactam antibiotic allergy.

• Adjust dose in renal impairment.

• Stop treatment if hypersensitivity reactions occur.

Storage:

• Store the reconstituted suspension in a refrigerator (2–8°C).

• Discard after 7 days of reconstitution.

• Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
