Active Ingredient:
Dapagliflozin 5 mg

Pharmacological Class:
SGLT2 (Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2) inhibitor

Indication:
Used for the treatment of:

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.

• May be considered in certain cases of heart failure or chronic kidney disease under medical supervision.

Dosage:
The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily, taken in the morning.
The dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily depending on the patient’s glycemic response and renal function.

Administration:

• Take orally once daily, at the same time each day.

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Ensure adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration.

Precautions:

• Evaluate renal function before initiating and periodically during treatment.

• Not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m²).

• Use caution in patients with low blood pressure, dehydration, or a history of recurrent urinary tract or genital infections.

• Monitor for signs of diabetic ketoacidosis, especially in patients on low-carbohydrate diets or insulin therapy.

Possible Side Effects:
Genital yeast infections, urinary tract infections, increased urination, thirst, dehydration, dizziness, and in rare cases, diabetic ketoacidosis.
