Exforge HCT 5/160/12.5 mg (14 Tablets)

Active Ingredients:

• Amlodipine 5 mg – Calcium channel blocker

• Valsartan 160 mg – Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB)

• Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg – Thiazide diuretic

Therapeutic Class:
Triple combination antihypertensive medication

Indications:

• Essential hypertension (used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy or dual therapy)

• Helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage caused by high blood pressure

Dosage:

• Recommended dose: One tablet once daily

• May be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day

• Dose selection should depend on prior antihypertensive therapy and patient tolerance

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine: Relaxes and widens blood vessels by inhibiting calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle.

• Valsartan: Blocks angiotensin II receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and lowering blood volume.

• Hydrochlorothiazide: Increases urine output (diuretic effect), reducing fluid retention and blood pressure.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Pregnancy (especially during 2nd and 3rd trimesters)

  • Severe renal or hepatic impairment

  • Anuria (no urine output)

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients or sulfonamide derivatives

• Use with caution in:

  • Electrolyte imbalances (particularly low potassium or sodium)

  • Dehydration or volume depletion

  • Gout or diabetes mellitus

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Headache

• Fatigue or weakness

• Swelling (edema), especially of the ankles

• Muscle cramps

• Hypotension (low blood pressure)

• Electrolyte disturbances (low sodium or potassium)

• Increased urination

Storage:

• Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight

• Keep out of reach of children
