Epi-Dinitra 10 mg (20 Tablets)

Active Ingredient:

• Isosorbide Dinitrate 10 mg – Nitrate vasodilator

Therapeutic Class:
Antianginal and vasodilator

Indications:

• Prevention and treatment of angina pectoris (chest pain due to coronary artery disease)

• Management of heart failure, usually in combination with other cardiac medications

• Relief of ischemic cardiac pain by improving blood flow to the heart muscle

Dosage:

• Typical adult dose: 10–40 mg taken 2 to 3 times daily, as prescribed

• Should be taken with water, preferably at the same times each day

• A nitrate-free interval (at least 12 hours) each day is recommended to prevent tolerance

Mechanism of Action:

• Isosorbide dinitrate is converted to nitric oxide, which relaxes vascular smooth muscle

• Causes venous and arterial dilation, reducing cardiac preload and afterload

• Improves oxygen delivery to the myocardium, relieving angina and reducing cardiac workload

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Severe hypotension or shock

  • Concomitant use of phosphodiesterase inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil) due to risk of severe hypotension

  • Severe anemia or increased intracranial pressure

• Use with caution in:

  • Patients with hypotension, volume depletion, or orthostatic symptoms

  • Those with glaucoma or thyroid disorders

• Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent rebound angina

Possible Side Effects:

• Headache (very common, usually improves with continued use)

• Dizziness or lightheadedness (especially when standing up)

• Flushing or warmth

• Low blood pressure (hypotension)

• Rare: Reflex tachycardia, nausea, or allergic skin reactions

Storage:

• Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture

• Keep out of reach of children
