Medication Name: E-Moxclav 642mg Suspension

Active Ingredients (per 5 ml after reconstitution):

• Amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 400 mg

• Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) 57 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic (penicillin) combined with a β-lactamase inhibitor

Dosage Form:
Powder for oral suspension — reconstituted to 642 mg/5 ml

Indications:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Bone and joint infections

• Dental infections

Mechanism of Action:
Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while clavulanic acid blocks β-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, extending the antibiotic spectrum.

Dosage and Administration:

• Children (based on amoxicillin component): 25–45 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 12 hours.

• Shake well before each use.

• Administer at the start of a meal to enhance absorption and reduce gastrointestinal upset.

• Discard any unused suspension after 7 days if kept at room temperature or 10 days if refrigerated.

Side Effects:

• Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting

• Skin rash or allergic reactions

• Rare: cholestatic jaundice or liver dysfunction

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins or history of amoxicillin–clavulanate–associated liver issues.

• Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment.

Storage:
Store the dry powder below 25°C.
After reconstitution, store in a refrigerator (2–8°C).
Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.
