Medication Name: E-Moxclav 1000mg 10 Tablets

Active Ingredients (per tablet):

• Amoxicillin 875 mg

• Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) 125 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic (penicillin) combined with a β-lactamase inhibitor

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets — oral administration

Indications:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Bone and joint infections

• Dental and postoperative infections

Mechanism of Action:
Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death.
Clavulanic acid inhibits β-lactamase enzymes that make bacteria resistant to amoxicillin, thus broadening the antibacterial spectrum.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults and children ≥40 kg: 1 tablet every 12 hours (twice daily).

• Take at the start of a meal to improve absorption and minimize gastrointestinal side effects.

• Duration of therapy depends on infection type and severity (typically 5–14 days).

Side Effects:

• Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)

• Rash or allergic reactions

• Rare: liver enzyme elevation, cholestatic jaundice

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins or previous history of amoxicillin–clavulanate–associated liver dysfunction.

• Adjust dose in renal impairment.

• Discontinue if allergic reactions occur.
