Daktarin cream 15 gm

Medication Name: Daktarin Cream 15 g
Active Ingredient: Miconazole nitrate 2% w/w
Drug Class: Topical antifungal (azole class)

Indications:

Daktarin cream is used for treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin, including:

• Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis)

• Jock itch (tinea cruris)

• Ringworm (tinea corporis)

• Minor Candida (yeast) skin infections

• Other superficial dermatophyte or yeast infections

Mechanism of Action:

• Miconazole inhibits ergosterol synthesis, a key component of fungal cell membranes.

• This disrupts the fungal membrane, causing death of the fungus and resolution of infection.

Dosage and Administration:

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area and surrounding skin 2–3 times daily.

• Wash and dry the affected area before application.

• Continue treatment for the full recommended duration, usually 2–4 weeks, even if symptoms improve early.

Side Effects:

• Mild burning, itching, or irritation at the application site

• Redness or dryness

• Rare: allergic reactions (rash, swelling, or blistering)

Warnings and Precautions:

• For external use only.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes.

• Do not use on large areas or deep wounds unless advised by a doctor.

• If irritation or allergic reaction occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.

Storage:

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), away from moisture and sunlight.
