Coveram 5\10mg 15 Tablets

Indications:

• Essential hypertension (high blood pressure)

• Stable coronary artery disease (angina prevention and control)

• Used when treatment with both agents (ACE inhibitor + calcium channel blocker) is appropriate

Mechanism of Action:

• Perindopril: Inhibits ACE enzyme, reducing angiotensin II and aldosterone production → causes vasodilation and decreases blood pressure.

• Amlodipine: Blocks calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle → relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.

• Combined effect lowers blood pressure and improves cardiac oxygen delivery.

Precautions:

• Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and potassium levels regularly.

• Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment, heart failure, or liver disease.

• Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Avoid combining with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements without medical supervision.

Common Side Effects:

• Dizziness or fatigue

• Headache

• Swelling of ankles or feet (from amlodipine)

• Dry cough (from perindopril)

• Flushing or palpitations

• Nausea or abdominal discomfort

• Low blood pressure
