Congestal 20 tab

Medication Name: Congestal 20 tablets
Active Ingredient: Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 20 mg
Drug Class: Sympathomimetic decongestant

Indications:

Congestal is used for relief of nasal and sinus congestion caused by:

• Common cold

• Allergic rhinitis (hay fever)

• Sinusitis

• Other upper respiratory tract infections

Mechanism of Action:

• Pseudoephedrine stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors, causing:

  • Constriction of blood vessels in the nasal passages

  • Reduction of swelling and congestion

• Helps improve airflow and relieve stuffiness.

Dosage and Administration:

• Typical adult dose: 1 tablet (20 mg) every 4–6 hours as needed.

• Maximum daily dose: 120 mg (do not exceed).

• Take with water, preferably after food to reduce stomach upset.

• Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days without medical advice.

Side Effects:

• Increased heart rate or palpitations

• Mild elevated blood pressure

• Nervousness, restlessness, or anxiety

• Insomnia

• Dizziness or headache

• Rare: nausea or vomiting

Warnings and Precautions:

• Not recommended for patients with:

  • Severe hypertension or heart disease

  • Glaucoma

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • Diabetes (use cautiously)

• Avoid combining with other decongestants or stimulants.

• Use caution when driving or operating machinery.

• Consult a doctor if symptoms persist more than 7 days or worsen.

Storage:

Store at room temperature (below 25°C), away from moisture and sunlight.
