Ciprodiazole is a combination antibiotic used to treat various types of mixed bacterial infections, particularly those caused by both aerobic (oxygen-using) and anaerobic (non-oxygen-using) bacteria.

Active Ingredients

Each tablet is a fixed-dose combination and contains two different antibiotics:

• Ciprofloxacin: 500 mg (A fluoroquinolone antibiotic)
• Metronidazole: 500 mg (A nitroimidazole antibiotic/anti-parasitic agent)

Key Uses

Ciprodiazole is typically prescribed for:

• Mixed Infections: Infections in which multiple types of bacteria (aerobic and anaerobic) are present.
• Intra-abdominal and Pelvic Infections.
• Severe Diarrhea/Gastrointestinal Infections caused by bacterial or parasitic pathogens.
• Diverticulitis.
• Standard Dosage (Adults)
• Dose: Usually 1 tablet (containing 500 mg Ciprofloxacin and 500 mg Metronidazole).
• Frequency: Typically taken every 12 hours (twice daily).
• Duration: The course duration is determined by the physician based on the type and severity of the infection, but usually lasts from 5 to 14 days.

Important Administration Notes

• Take the tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• It is generally recommended to take the tablet after meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
• Do not consume alcohol while taking Ciprodiazole (due to the Metronidazole component) and for at least 48-72 hours after the last dose, as it can cause a severe reaction (disulfiram-like reaction).
