Amaryl 2mg 30 Tablets

Indications:
Used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient. It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic medications such as metformin, pioglitazone, or insulin.

Mechanism of Action:
Stimulates the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells and enhances the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.

Dosage:

• Typical starting dose: 1mg once daily with breakfast or the first main meal.

• Maintenance dose: Adjust gradually based on blood glucose response.

• Maximum recommended dose: 8mg once daily.

• Take with or immediately after food to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.

Precautions:

• Monitor blood glucose regularly to detect hypoglycemia.

• Use cautiously in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.

• Avoid skipping meals or prolonged fasting.

• Not recommended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

• Stop treatment temporarily before major surgery or severe illness.

Possible Side Effects:

• Hypoglycemia (sweating, tremor, dizziness, hunger)

• Nausea or stomach discomfort

• Headache

• Mild weight gain

• Rare: allergic skin reactions, liver enzyme elevation, or visual disturbances
