Alkapress 5 mg (20 Tablets)

Active Ingredient:

• Amlodipine 5 mg

Therapeutic Class:
Calcium channel blocker (CCB) – Antihypertensive and antianginal

Indications:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure)

• Chronic stable angina (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart)

• Vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s) angina

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: One tablet once daily (may be increased gradually up to 10 mg daily if needed)

• Can be taken with or without food

• Take at the same time each day for consistent effect

Mechanism of Action:

• Inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle

• Causes vasodilation, reducing peripheral resistance and lowering blood pressure

• Decreases myocardial oxygen demand, improving blood flow in coronary arteries

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Severe hypotension

  • Known hypersensitivity to amlodipine or other dihydropyridines

• Use with caution in:

  • Heart failure

  • Liver impairment (dose adjustment may be required)

  • Elderly patients (monitor closely for hypotension or edema)

• Avoid abrupt discontinuation without medical advice

Possible Side Effects:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Headache

• Flushing

• Fatigue

• Peripheral edema (ankle or foot swelling)

• Rare: palpitations, hypotension, or allergic reactions

Storage:

• Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light

• Keep out of reach of children
