Active Ingredient:
Ramipril 10 mg

Therapeutic Class:
ACE inhibitor (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme inhibitor) – Antihypertensive agent

Indications:

• Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults. Vademecum+2lotusonline.com+2

• Reduction of cardiovascular risk (e.g., myocardial infarction, stroke, cardiovascular death) in patients with cardiovascular disease or diabetes at high risk. Vademecum+1

• Management of renal disease or diabetic nephropathy, and the treatment of heart failure in certain patients. Med.tn+1

Dosage:

• Adults: Usually one tablet (10 mg) once daily, or as directed by the physician. Gardenia Pharmacies+1

• Can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

• The dose may be adjusted by the physician depending on blood pressure response and renal/cardiac function.

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in pregnancy (especially second and third trimesters), history of angioedema with ACE inhibitors, severe renal impairment or bilateral renal artery stenosis. Vademecum+1

• Caution is needed in patients with low blood volume or salt-depleted state, impaired liver or kidney function, high potassium levels, or with concomitant use of potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements. HPRA Assets+1

• May cause dizziness—should rise slowly from sitting/lying position. Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected.

Possible Side Effects:

• Common: dizziness, headache, fatigue, cough (persistent dry), hypotension. HPRA Assets
