Composition

Each suppository contains:

• Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) – 125 mg (approximate pediatric strength)

Indications

• Relief of mild to moderate pain (headache, toothache, earache, post-vaccination pain)

• Reduction of fever in children when oral administration is not possible (vomiting, sore throat, refusal to swallow)

Mechanism of Action

• Paracetamol acts centrally to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, producing antipyretic and analgesic effects without significant anti-inflammatory activity.

Dosage & Administration

• Route: Rectal

• Children (based on weight):

  • 10–15 mg/kg every 4–6 hours as needed

  • Maximum: 4 doses per 24 hours

• Do not exceed the recommended total daily dose of 60 mg/kg/day

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to paracetamol

• Severe hepatic impairment

Precautions

• Use with caution in children with liver disease or dehydration

• Avoid concomitant use with other paracetamol-containing medications

Side Effects

• Rare: Skin rash, allergic reaction

• Very rare: Liver toxicity with overdose
