Ateno 50 mg (20 Tablets)

Active Ingredient:

• Atenolol 50 mg – Beta-1 selective adrenergic blocker

Therapeutic Class:
Beta-blocker – Antihypertensive and antianginal agent

Indications:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure)

• Angina pectoris (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart)

• Arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms)

• Prevention of recurrent heart attacks after myocardial infarction

Dosage:

• Usual adult dose: One tablet (50 mg) once daily

• May be increased to 100 mg daily if needed for adequate control

• Can be taken with or without food

• Should be taken at the same time each day

• Do not stop abruptly; taper gradually under medical supervision

Mechanism of Action:

• Atenolol selectively blocks beta-1 adrenergic receptors in cardiac tissue

• Decreases heart rate, cardiac contractility, and cardiac output

• Reduces myocardial oxygen demand and lowers blood pressure

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in:

  • Severe bradycardia

  • Heart block (greater than first degree)

  • Cardiogenic shock or overt heart failure

  • Hypersensitivity to atenolol or other beta-blockers

• Use cautiously in:

  • Diabetes mellitus (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms)

  • Peripheral vascular disease

  • Asthma or chronic bronchospasm

  • Renal impairment (dose adjustment may be required)

Possible Side Effects:

• Fatigue or weakness

• Dizziness or lightheadedness

• Cold hands or feet

• Slow heart rate (bradycardia)

• Nausea or stomach upset

• Rare: Sleep disturbances, depression, or allergic reactions

Storage:

• Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and sunlight

• Keep out of reach of children
