Medication Name: Mellitofix Met 1000/5mg 30 Tablets

Active Ingredients:

• Empagliflozin 5 mg

• Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Combination of SGLT2 inhibitor and biguanide antidiabetic agent

Indication:
Used in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control when combination therapy with empagliflozin and metformin is appropriate, as an adjunct to diet and exercise.

Dosage:
One tablet once or twice daily, according to the physician’s prescription and glycemic response.
Dose adjustments depend on renal function and tolerance.

Administration:

• Take orally with meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects from metformin.

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Precautions:

• Assess renal function before and periodically during therapy.

• Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, metabolic acidosis, or diabetic ketoacidosis.

• Ensure adequate hydration to avoid dehydration.

• Use with caution in hepatic impairment and elderly patients.

• Discontinue before major surgery or administration of iodinated contrast agents.

Possible Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia (especially if combined with insulin or sulfonylureas), urinary tract infections, genital fungal infections, increased urination, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
