Active Ingredient:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Levonorgestrel 0.75 mg<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Pharmacological Class:<\/strong>
    Emergency contraceptive (progestin-only)<\/p>\n

    Dosage Form:<\/strong>
    Tablets \u2014 each containing 0.75 mg levonorgestrel<\/p>\n

    Indications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • \n

      Emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse or contraceptive failure (e.g., condom breakage, missed oral contraceptive pills).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Mechanism of Action:<\/strong>
      Levonorgestrel prevents ovulation and fertilization if intercourse occurs before ovulation. It may also alter the endometrium, preventing implantation. It does not<\/strong> terminate an existing pregnancy.<\/p>\n

      Dosage and Administration:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Two tablets (0.75 mg each)<\/strong> should be taken as soon as possible within 72 hours (3 days)<\/strong> after unprotected intercourse.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        The second tablet should be taken 12 hours after<\/strong> the first dose.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        Alternatively, both tablets may be taken together<\/strong> if preferred.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      • \n

        The sooner the medication is taken, the higher its efficacy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Side Effects:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          Nausea, vomiting<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Fatigue, dizziness<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Headache<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          Breast tenderness<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          Temporary menstrual irregularities (early or delayed period)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Precautions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Not intended for routine contraception.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            Should not be used more than once in the same menstrual cycle.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            If vomiting occurs within 2 hours of taking a dose, another tablet should be taken immediately.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

          • \n

            If menstruation is delayed by more than 5\u20137 days, a pregnancy test is recommended.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
